We will remember them – Wellingborough & East Northants Chamber of Commerce joins community to honour Remembrance Sunday

On a solemn and moving Remembrance Sunday, Donna French, President of the Wellingborough & East Northants Chamber of Commerce alongside Vice President Pritesh Patel, laid a poppy wreath at the War Memorial in Broad Green, Wellingborough. The ceremony was attended by hundreds of people, including veterans, cadets, local businesses, and residents, who gathered to pay tribute to the fallen and to honour the sacrifices made by service members past and present.

A parade departed from the Market Square at 10:40am and made its way to the War Memorial on Broad Green, where people gathered for hymns, prayers and speeches about the importance of remembering the sacrifices made for our freedoms before a two-minutes silence provided the opportunity to reflect, honour and remember the brave individuals who gave so much.

Hymns were sang, prayers spoken, and speeches made about the importance of remembering the sacrifices made for our freedoms at the poignant annual service, which was led with dignity and respect, and saw the local community come together in a spirit of reflection and remembrance. Among those in attendance were groups of cadets, veterans who served with distinction, and representatives from various community organisations, all united in commemorating this important day.

Donna French, who is Centre Manager for Rushden Lakes, expressed her deep appreciation for the collective effort that made the ceremony so impactful. “A heartfelt thank you to Sally McLellan, Town Clerk of Wellingborough Town Council, the Cadets, local businesses, and residents for their participation in today’s Remembrance Sunday service,” she said. “It was both an honour and a privilege to lay a wreath on behalf of the Wellingborough & East Northants Chamber of Commerce.

“Special thanks to Pritesh Patel for joining me today. It was wonderful to meet so many people, all coming together to pay their respects and to show the strength of our community in remembering those who have served.”
