How we operate, decide, and stay accountable—without the red tape.
The Wellingborough & North Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce (WNNCC) is proudly independent and led by real businesspeople—not administrators.
That means our rules are simple, clear, and designed to ensure we stay focused on what matters most: supporting our members, representing your interests, and driving business growth across North Northamptonshire.
Our Purpose
We exist to:
- Champion and support local businesses
- Promote economic development across our region
- Help members navigate local and national issues
- Share knowledge, create opportunities, and build strong business relationships
- Give our members a platform, a voice, and a network that works
Our activities are governed by a written Constitution, which is reviewed and approved by our members at the AGM.
Membership Rules
Membership is open to:
- All businesses, trades and professions operating in North Northamptonshire
- Individuals with a commercial interest in the region or who have worked here previously (associate membership)
Every member organisation is entitled to one vote in General Meetings, and may appoint a proxy if required.
Honorary and Life Membership may be granted at the discretion of the Executive Committee, in recognition of outstanding service to the Chamber.
Membership subscriptions are payable annually and set by the Executive Committee, subject to approval at the AGM.
Executive Committee
The Chamber is run by an elected Executive Committee made up of:
- The President
- Deputy President
- Vice President
- Immediate Past President
- Honorary Secretary
- Finance Secretary
- Up to eight elected members
All members are volunteers drawn from a range of industries. They meet regularly to steer the Chamber’s direction, make decisions, and ensure we stay aligned with our mission.
Past Presidents and active contributors may be re-elected or co-opted, provided they meet attendance criteria.
Meetings & Decision-Making
- The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held each April
- The Executive Committee meets at least four times a year
- General Meetings are open to all members and held at least twice annually
- Extraordinary General Meetings (EGMs) may be called by the committee or by request from at least seven members
All members can vote at AGMs and EGMs. Voting procedures are transparent, and ties are decided by the President or meeting Chair.
Finance & Transparency
- The Chamber’s financial year ends on 28 February
- Accounts are prepared by the Finance Secretary, reviewed by the Executive, and submitted to the AGM for approval
- Payments over £100 must be pre-approved by the Executive
- Dual signatory authorisation is required on all Chamber bank accounts
- Our appointed bankers, solicitors, and accountant are confirmed annually at the AGM
All Chamber funds are used exclusively for activities that benefit our members. No profit is distributed.
