The streets of Wellingborough sparkled with festive cheer on Saturday 22nd November as the annual Wellingborough Twinkle brought the community together for the much-anticipated Christmas light switch-on.
Sponsored by EES Northants, the event drew families and friends from across the town, celebrating the start of the festive season.
Despite the inclement weather, residents turned out in great numbers to enjoy an afternoon full of festive fun. The evening featured fantastic live entertainment from local performers including Wrenn School, Warwick Primary and Redwell School choirs, Eternal Start of Queen tribute, Rock Choir, Moulton 77 Brass Band, the Castle Theatre pantomime cast, Dynamix Dance Company and the amazing Jennah, alongside an array of stalls offering crafts, food, and games, braving the rain to provide something for everyone.
A highlight of the evening was an amazing display of Mustangs, which ‘rev’d’ up the atmosphere and delighted car enthusiasts of all ages. The festivities also included a visit from Santa and his helpers, who welcomed children into the Elf Workshop to write their letters to the North Pole – a moment that brought smiles to many young faces.
Cllr Paul Bell said: “We are incredibly grateful to EES Northants for their sponsorship, and to all the stalls and entertainers who braved the weather to put on such a wonderful event in Wellingborough.
“Their support helped us create a magical event for the whole community, and it was heartwarming to see so many people come together to celebrate, despite the weather.”
The Wellingborough Twinkle continues to grow as a cherished town tradition, shining a light on community spirit and the joy of the festive season.
