The fan-owned, volunteer-run semi-professional Football Club in Northamptonshire was formed in 2011 by supporters, following the demise of Rushden & Diamonds Football Club.

The club represents the towns of Rushden and Irthlingborough, following an amalgamation between Rushden Town and Irthlingborough Diamonds in 1992. Together, the towns have a population of over 40,000, and sit within the North Northamptonshire district encompassing other large towns such as Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough.

As a Community Benefit Society (CBS), AFC Rushden & Diamonds operates on a not-for-profit basis for purposes that benefit the community as a whole. Being fan-owned and volunteer-run means that every penny generated, commercial revenue or otherwise, is fed directly back in to the club.

The Men’s First Team has an average attendance of around 400, with attendances ranging anywhere from 250 to 1,000 at home matches. This average makes the club one of the best-supported teams nationally at its level of football, which is crucial to the club’s sustainability. Without external financial investment, it relies on passionate support and its sponsors.

AFC Rushden & Diamonds provides football as a form of social inclusion within its area, creating pathways and opportunities for people of all ages regardless of gender, ethnic origin or sexuality.

Nearly 50 teams with over 500 children, young people and over 50’s participate in sport on a regular basis wearing the AFC Rushden & Diamonds badge.
